About US:

The Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) is a
government agency established in 1990 by an Act of parliament (CAP 209). The
UNCST under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MoSIT) is
mandated to develop and implement strategies for integrating Science and
Technology (S&T) into the national development process.

 

Job Summary:  The Science
Officer (Technology Transfer) will provide support towards the development and
promotion of appropriate S&T through technology transfer and adaptation.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Provide
support towards establishment of S&T science parks and Innovation centres;

·       
Establishment
of pilot projects and demonstrations of new technologies or STI innovations;

·       
Participate
in the development of the necessary plans, including business/master plans for
the UNCST infrastructure programs;

·       
Build
synergies with the regional centers of excellence in the development of
regional S&T Infrastructure;

·       
Provide
support to upcoming program portfolios in different S&T strategic fields;

·       
Work
closely with science and technology-based institutions to support appropriate
technology management services and technology transfer systems;

·       
Perform
any other UNCST tasks as necessary and as may be assigned from time to time.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree (Hons) in bio-systems or agricultural
engineering;

·       
A minimum
of 3 years of experience in a similar field;

·       
High
level of confidence in relating with S&T stakeholders;

·       
Good
interpersonal skills and ability to work with stakeholders and partners;

·       
Ability
to work independently and as part of a team;

·       
Proven
good reporting and writing skills;

·       
Age: not
more than 35 years.
