University Service of Canada) is a Canadian non-profit organization working to
create a better world for all young people. We bring together a diverse network
of students, volunteers, schools, governments, and businesses who share this
vision. Together, we develop solutions in education, economic opportunities,
and empowerment to overcome inequality and exclusion for youth around the
world, particularly young women and young refugees. WUSC currently works in 25
countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, with an annual
budget of approximately CAD $40 million. We have over 90 staff in our Ottawa
office, and over 200 people overseas implementing 16 development projects in
collaboration with donors such as Global Affairs Canada, the UK Department for
International Development (DFID), the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank,
and the African Development Bank.

 

Job Summary:  The overall methodology and approach for the
baseline studies will be established and detailed by the Lead Consultant (based
Internationally), who will work with the Lead Enumerator and 2-3 Enumerators in
each country to adapt data collection tools, execute data collection, clean and
analyse data, report on results and validate results with local partners.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Pre-Enumeration
Phase

·       
Attend
enumerator’s training, including project and partner orientation/introductions

·       
Support
onboarding of 2-3 Enumerators

·       
Receive
enumeration materials and equipment from the lead consultant

·       
Develop
an enumeration schedule

Enumeration Phase

·       
Coordinate
with Enumerators and Lead consultant to implement the enumeration schedule.

·       
Implement
household sample criteria and locate sample selection

·       
Review
data as it is collected

·       
Troubleshoot
issues and challenges as they arise, in collaboration with Lead Consultant

·       
Participate
in data review and summary calls with Lead Consultant as requested

·       
Comply
with research and quality requirements as oriented

·       
Conduct
interviews, focus group discussions and surveys as need to support Enumerators

·       
Record
responses as guided by the Lead Consultant

Post-Enumeration Phase

·       
Lead the
cleaning and processing of data according to guidelines provided by Lead
Consultant

·       
Lead
data analysis and produce reports as guided by the Lead Consultant

·       
Ensure
that all data collection results and equipment are accounted for

·       
Turn
over all raw data, literature and materials used to the Lead Consultant

·       
Coordinate
the summary of results and the validation workshop with partners and Lead
Consultant

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
At least
four years of experience in evaluation studies, enumeration, research and
producing quality reports, preferably for international non-profit
organizations

·       
Highly
organized individual, capable of handling multiple priorities, meeting
deadlines, and managing time effectively

·       
Supervisory
experience in an evaluation context is required

·       
Demonstrated
experience in data collection and analysis for baseline or end line studies
including proven experience in sampling and mixed methods approaches

·       
Demonstrated
experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis

·       
Experience
in utilizing technology tools and software, especially ONA and OKD

·       
Outstanding
communications, writing, and research skills

·       
Fluency
in English is mandatory and other languages of project country are an asset

·       
Ability
to produce high quality work under tight timeframes
