Job Summary:  We are looking for a suitable candidate to
take on the role of Strategic Communications Manager. This position will
provide strategic guidance and technical oversight to PSI Uganda’s internal and
external communication in line with global standards and PSI Uganda’s vision
and mission by creating and delivering high quality, proactive communications
that drive retention of internal and external stakeholders, client loyalty, new
opportunities and the ability to influence regional and national health care
priorities.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Work
alongside the Executive Team to develop an organisation communications strategy
to guide organisation and project communications’ work.

·       
Work
with the PSI Global External Relations and Communications team, ensure alignment
of PSI Uganda and PSI Global Communications strategies.

·       
Serve as
the contact point for PSI Uganda programming for external stakeholders and
other PSI platforms.

·       
Develop
proactive, consistent channels of communication to reach internal and external
stakeholder groups.

·       
Work
with different departments and projects to clarify communications expectations
and establish key messages which differentiate PSI Uganda’s areas of expertise
and health areas of focus.

·       
Build a
PSI Uganda Communications calendar to define timing for messaging throughout
the year.

·       
Supervise
the Communications Coordinator and Graphics Designer to ensure quality and
timely development of content calendars, branding and Behavior Change
Communications materials.

·       
Work
with People and culture department to clarify expectations for communications
with PSI-Uganda staff.

·       
Work
with technical team leads and all external-facing staff members to provide
training in effective communication strategies.

·       
Guide
PSI Uganda’s presence at different international, national and donor events in
line with strategic direction such as:

o   Oversee all PSIU external presentations and
provide guidance on key messages and expected branding.

o   Offer technical guidance to PSIU events to
ensure branding and media publicity including liaising with journalists and
drafting press releases.

o   Provide technical oversight and approval for
all content for the PSIU & ProFam newsletters, the annual report and all
PSIU brand identity items.

·       
Provide
support in managing departmental budgets, awarded contracts and coordinating
the production and/or implementation of behavior change communications
including media buying and monitoring.

·       
Provide
support to the Executive Management Team in proposal writing and fundraising.

·       
Coordination
of all projects to ensure timely input into and production of quality donor
reports.

·       
Any
other reasonable tasks as assigned by the Country Representative.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a BA/BS degree in Mass Communication, Marketing or any
other related field.

·       
Five
years of communications management experience in general.

·       
Excellent
analytical, organizational, oral and written communication skills

·       
Strong
organizational and multi-tasking skills.

·       
High
level of attention to details in all aspects of work responsibilities

·       
Commitment
to deadlines.

·       
Excellent
interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff, external
stakeholders and partners.

·       
Expanded
computer skills including experience using O365 tools.

·       
Highly
self-driven and is passionate about what they do.

·       
Excellent
analytical and quick problem-solving skills.

·       
Demonstrable
successes in using data to make strategic decisions, deploy budgets and
resource to deliver results in a cost-effective way.

·       
Country
and regional mindset with the ability to define long term and short-term
opportunities.

·       
Self-reliant
with strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present
complex and nuanced information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of
audiences.

·       
Highly
organized, proactive, and a self-starter.

·       
Great
presentation skills – able to ‘translate’ ideas/takeaways from discussions into
professional-grade outputs.
