John Snow, Inc.
(JSI), a leader in the field of international public health, is currently
recruiting for two positions for the USAID-Regional Health Integration to
Enhance Services-North, Lango (USAID-RHITES-N, Lango) Project. USAID- RHITES-N,
Lango will improve the use of integrated health services in Northern Uganda’s
Lango region and strengthen the health system to sustain gains made by earlier
projects. USAID-RHITES-N, Lango will contribute to improving key
population-based national health indicators; build the capacity of the Ugandan
government to carry out a sustainable and locally-driven response to the HIV
epidemic, while also improving TB, malaria, nutrition, MNCH+A, and WASH
outcomes. JSI will work with Ugandan stakeholders to design and implement
health system strengthening strategies to scale up high-impact, evidence-based
interventions at the national, sub- regional, district, and community levels.
Interventions will include VMMC, virtual elimination of mother-to- child
transmission of HIV, antiretroviral therapy, and condom education and
distribution. JSI will focus where the greatest impact can be realized, with a
priority on hard-to-reach and high-HIV-prevalence locations. RHITES-N, Lango is
a five-year contract. The JSI team includes Amref Health Africa, Doctors with
Africa CUAMM, Another Option, and Medical Concierge Group.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

lead in, and overall oversight over and coordination of, implementation of HIV
testing services in all health facilities and communities in the Lango region,
with focus on children including

quality improvement in HTS: establish and maintain an HTS QI collaborative and
ensure a database is developed to track progress

the development of facility level performance evaluation indicators for all
process improvement teams for HTS.

technical support, supervise, and facilitate the District health teams, health
facility HTS teams and District Project teams to effectively implement and
report HTS activities [including routine on-site and virtual support through
telephone, e-mail, etc.) Work with all the technical teams at the project to
ensure integration of HTS! innovations in all program areas.

and submit quarterly, annual and ad hoc HTS activity progress reports

the implementation of planned activities for HTS through periodic
consultations, progress review meetings, reports review, and field visits;
providing feedback for improving performance

and maintain a database of up to date regional and district technical trainers
and mentors with quarterly virtual or physical support to build capacity and
update of new changes.

HTS operational research activities involving the project supported health

and document best practices


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

applicant must hold a diploma or degree in Health Services. A Masters’ degree
in Public Health will be an added advantage

minimum of two years of working experience in a similar job

working with MOH or PEPFAR funded projects is desirable.

A clear
and concise understanding of the HTS issues relating to GOU

and knowledge of integrating Quality improvement

communication, team building, innovative skill
