About US:

The Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB), a leading
Christian organization coordinating 302 Member Health facilities all over
Uganda is implementing a five-year Local Service Delivery (HIV/AIDS) Activity
supported by USAID to be implemented in three USAID regions of Uganda (Gulu,
Mbarara, Jinja). The project will support private not-for-profit (PNFP) sites
to address gaps through optimization of high yielding HIV Testing and
Counseling Services approaches, improved retention and viral suppression,
provision of HIV/TB care and treatment, scale up services to reach men and key
populations, strengthen the PNFP institutional capacity and quality for
sustainable service delivery and contribute to Uganda’s efforts in reaching and
maintaining epidemic control.

 

Job Summary:  The Pediatric/Adolescent Specialist will work
with the Pediatrics and Adolescent Advisor to support private not-for-profit
(PNFP) sites to address gaps through optimization of high yielding HIV Testing
and Counseling Services approaches, improved retention and viral suppression,
provision of HIV/TB care and treatment, scale up services to reach children and
adolescents, and strengthen the PNFP institutional capacity and quality for
sustainable service delivery.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Provide technical assistance through mentorship
and coaching to front line health workers within Private not for profit health
facilities and Community health workers on high impact interventions for
improving pediatric and adolescent HIV prevention, case identification, linkage
to and retention on treatment and social support including OVC program and
viral suppression.

·       
Implement and monitor pediatric and adolescent
HIV/AIDS capacity building plans for PNFP Health facilities in the supported
region

·       
Disseminate of pediatric and adolescent HIV
prevention and treatment guidelines and policies among PNFP health facilities
and related platforms within the region

·       
Support implementing HFs to integrate pediatric
and adolescent HIV prevention, care and treatment into the existing services in
line with project objectives.

·       
Support PNFP HFs to integrate continuous quality
improvement in HIV service delivery to children and adolescents.

·       
Support implementing facilities in developing
and maintaining strategic partnerships and networks for pediatric and
adolescent HIV/AIDS

·       
Prepare and timely submit periodic progress
reports on pediatric and adolescent HIV intervention as per donor requirements

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The applicant must hold a Degree in
Medicine/Nursing/Midwifery/public health/reproductive health and an additional
qualification with child and youth bias with will be an added advantage.

·       
At least three years of experience working with
a pediatric and adolescent HIV program in a reputable organization.

·       
Demonstrated Leadership and team work

·       
Produces high quality work in a timely,
cost-effective manner

·       
Experience in managing quality improvement
interventions and mentoring health workers

·       
Excellent written and oral communication skills
