Job Summary:  Under the overall supervision of the Chief of
Mission in IOM Uganda, the direct supervision and guidance of the National
Migration Health Promotion Coordinator (Health Promotion Unit) and in close
coordination with the Programme Coordinator, the successful candidate will be
responsible for providing field based programme and administrative support to
the day-to-day operations of the project and migration health promotion and
Emergency health programs. The successful candidate will be performing the
following duties below:

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Provide support to
the Health Promotion Unit by:

  • In collaboration with the Migration Health Programme Coordinator,
    support the implementation of the day to day activities of the Emergency
    health projects and migration health promotion including COVID-19 related
    interventions, in close collaboration with the district and partners
    including UN agencies.
  • Support the verification of programme work-plans and budgets to
    ensure that the set goals are met within the timeframe in coordination
    with the Supervisor.
  • Support the coordination with various platforms on behalf of IOM at
    local and national levels, in coordination with the Supervisor.
  • Report regularly to the Migration Health Programme Coordinator on
    any issues relating to the smooth implementation of the project. This
    includes drafting of programme summaries and reports as may be required.
  • Work closely with the Procurement team to procure services including
    support with the documentation process.
  • Establish and maintain accurate and complete records of all
    programmatic reports, equipment and supplies received, stored and
    distributed to implementing partners and service points.
  • In coordination with the supervisor, manage project and activity
    budgets including liaising with RMU unit on the burn rate and expenditures
    related to activities.
  • Liaise with colleagues, including the Public Information officer,
    Programme support Unit and provide support to the promotion of IOM
    activities in Uganda, including press releases, reporting, website
    content, and any other related documentation.
  • Undertake duty travels, as necessary.
  • Perform such other duties as may assigned by the Supervisors.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations should have completed a
    Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Social Studies and Public Health
    or related field from an accredited academic institution Or Secondary
    (High School) education with four (04) years’ experience
  • At least two years (two years for applicants with bachelor’s degree)
    experience working with the district, public and civil society sectors
    (national, regional and international organizations) and familiar with the
    national and subnational health care systems.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills , creative and
    innovative thinking skills
  • Knowledge of migration health policies, strategies and experience in
    implementing emergency and disease outbreaks for humanitarian responses.
  • Prior experience in project management, implementation and budget.
  • Ability to engage national and district level partners.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information technology and proficiency
    with Microsoft Office applications, including word, Excel, PowerPoint, and
    SharePoint.
