About US:

PEAS (Promoting
Equality in African Schools) is a UK based charity/social enterprise with a
mission to ‘expand access to sustainably delivered, quality secondary education
across Africa’. PEAS establishes and operates low-cost secondary schools in
Uganda and Zambia in areas where access to quality secondary education is
limited due to cost and geographical barriers. PEAS’ interventions are built
upon 3 pillars of education impact; Access, Quality and Sustainability. Since
opening its first schools in 2008, the PEAS network has grown to 31 schools,
and we are currently educating over 16,000 students. PEAS Uganda has about 50
staff at the Country Office and over 900 staff working in the network schools.

 

Job Summary:  The senior procurement officer is to work as
part of the logistics team and serve as focal point for the delivery of
efficient cost-effective and quality procurement services across the network in
the management of all responsibilities related to procurement, purchasing and
customs clearing, notably developing and maintaining relationships with
suppliers to achieve the best service, ensure PEAS procurement is ethical,
transparent and achieves the greatest value for money, emphasizing timely
processing of orders and payment of suppliers.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The ideal
candidate must hold a Bachelor’s qualification in Procurement and Logistics
management and practice

·       
A minimum
of three years’ experience in procurement and logistics at Senior level

·       
Previous
experience leading procurement and logistics for a large enterprise (group)
with a centralized management system

·       
Good
knowledge on procurement and logistics best practice embedding value for money
approaches to ensure an effective procurement chain in management of the
mandate of the department.

·       
Experience
managing large relationships in local market context

·       
Ability
to maintain data bases to provide information to decision making processes

·       
Demonstrate
understanding for driving the right efficiencies and effectiveness in  processes while maximizing value for money

·       
Knowledge
on standardizing and developing tools to track assets

·       
Experience
on successful disposal of assets and inventory

·       
Annual
accountability and verification of assets and support to asset planning

·       
A good
record of success in Implementing good risk identification and mitigation
approaches in a large organisation
