About US:

The Insurance
Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA) was established under section 14 of the
Insurance Statute 1996 now The Insurance Act, (Chap213) Laws of Uganda, 2000
(Insurance Act) which came into effect on 4th April 1996 and commenced
operations in April 1997. The establishment of the Insurance Regulatory
Authority of Uganda was a consequence of Government’s adoption of the
liberalization and privatization policies which ended its role of directly
engaging in the provision of goods and services and taking on the role of
supervisor or regulator.

 

Job Summary:  The Statistician will provide support to the
research and public education teams through capturing, organizing, analyzing
and interpreting data for purposes of informing relevant actions.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Analyse
performance data for the insurance companies and advise accordingly.

·       
Monitor
and verify benefits payments by insurance companies.

·       
Monitor
insurance companies investments to ensure they are compliant with the standing
Investment Guidelines.

·       
Support
the monitoring and evaluation function.

·       
Develop
systems to enable data capture and analysis.

·       
Prepare
and submit periodic reports such as quarterly and annual statistical reports;

·       
Carry
out any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.

Timely
submission of statistical reports.

Offsite
assessment reports.

Data
capture and analysis tools.

·       
Compliance
reports.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant for the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA) Statistician
job placement must hold a Bachelor’s (Honours) Degree in Statistics,
Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or its equivalent from a recognized higher
institution of learning

·       
Demonstrated
practical knowledge in data capture and application of statistical packages is
an added advantage.

·       
Personal

Analytical

·       
Interpersonal
skills

·       
An
understanding of application of Statistical packages

·       
Report
generation from data sets.
