About MANE Project:

Population Services
International (PSI) and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) are implementing
a three-year grant for an implementation science project (The MaNe project)
funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The
project is implemented in the slum communities and informal settlements in the
divisions of Rubaga and Makindye in Kampala city. The project initiates and
tests innovative interventions/approaches to address the demand and supply side
barriers affecting illness recognition, care seeking, effective referral and
provision of quality care equitably for better MNH outcomes in urban slum
settings in Kampala city.

Job Summary:  We are looking for a suitable candidate to
take on the temporary role of Field-Based Learning & Documentation
Coordinator for the MaNe Project. He/She will support the MaNe project to write
original, feature-length articles (800-1500 words) and short posts (400-600
words) on selected topics under the three core objectives of the MaNe project.
He/she will support the knowledge Management coordinator to draft the different
knowledge management products as stipulated in the project Knowledge Management
plan. He will work with the project team to generate and document learnings at
the community and facility level during testing of MaNe project innovations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Determine
specific content to write including the scope, format and framing of the
articles and short posts about accreditation, strengthening respectful maternal
and newborn care in public and private facilities, strengthening MNH referral
linkages through the call center and the ‘uber-like’ ambulance system, and
demand creation for all innovations created by the MaNe project.

·       
Develop
at least eight (8), articles and ten (10) short posts about accreditation,
strengthening respectful maternal and newborn care in public and private
facilities, strengthening MNH referral linkages through the call center and the
‘uber-like’ ambulance system, and demand creation for all innovations created
by the MaNe project.

·       
Produce
photo albums along the key topics agreed upon with the MaNe project team and in
line with the project objectives.

·       
Produce
at least four (4) videos about with the agreed topic and in line with project
objectives.

·       
Dissemination
of produced articles, posts and edited videos through social media, meetings,
project and donor sites.

·       
Prepare
relevant articles for publication in the Monthly KCCA Newsletter about the
planned project activities and achievements.

·       
Support
the knowledge management coordinator to document the key learnings/lessons
while testing/implementing project interventions to promote quality and
affordability of MNH in accredited clinics.

·       
Participate
in periodic reflective learning meetings and share lessons learnt from the
field documentation process.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a Degree in Mass communication from a recognized
university.

·       
Three
years of related work experience in print or video production.

·       
Demonstrated
experience in publication of health-related stories, articles and posts.

·       
Influencing/Negotiation
skills: Ability to understand both internal and customer perspectives so as to
be able to build a win-win strategy for financial and value-based negotiation.
