Established in 2018,
African Diversity and Inclusion Center (ADIC) is a Pan-African organization
that promotes diversity, Equality, Equity and Inclusion in Africa through
education and trainings, research and documentation, policy analysis and
recommendations, and Events management. We do this through building programs
and initiatives that seek to strength institutions both private and public,
work with corporations and businesses, civil society and governments including
national, regional and the African Union for the benefit of the most
marginalized including women, youths and minority groups of people across
Africa. We are a Not-for-profit pursuing our charitable status in Uganda as an
International Development Organization.

Job Summary:  The Program Officer will oversee program
development, seek grants and proposals, manage projects and oversee budgets.
Generally ensuring that activities and programs align with the goals and
mission statements of ADIC. The Program Officers must be able to complete
various tasks in meeting the demands of this position.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Oversee
program’s development. This includes staff development, project management,
implementation and daily management of activities.

·       
Create
budgets for project costs and program expenditures working closely with other
stakeholders in developing, maintaining and ensuring adherence to budgets. This
responsibility also includes reviewing grant proposals.

·       
Build
and maintain partnerships and relationships with other organizations, such as
non-profits, corporations, public and private entities and governments including
national, regional and African Union in order to expand resources, raise
funding and educate the public about the work of a particular foundation.

·       
Supply
reports about program development and ongoing activities. These reports might
be generated weekly, monthly or quarterly.

·       
Understanding
organizational goals and objectives and creating programs that adhere to these
guidelines

·       
Implementing
programs and projects to help organizations meet goals and objectives

·       
Apply
project management knowledge regarding development, staffing, budgeting and
scheduling

·       
Researching
grant proposals and funding opportunities

·       
Developing
relationships with various national, regional governments and African Union in
order to expand resources, raise funding and educate the public about the work
of ADIC.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field, or
equivalent work experience

·       
Two
years of professional experience in a related organization

·       
Exceptional
attention to detail and organizational skills as demonstrated in at least 2
years of professional experience

·       
Demonstrated
ability to work within a team environment

·       
Demonstrated
project management experience

·       
A
critical understanding of and deep commitment to social justice and human
rights issues facing women and trans* peopleworldwide

·       
Excellent
written and oral communications skills

·       
Demonstrated
interest in a career within the field of women’s, youths’ and minority human
rights and commitment to the mission and vision of ADIC.

·       
English
language proficiency required; proficiency in French is an added advantage.

·       
Demonstrated
ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure

·       
Strong
critical thinking skills, ability to problem solve and resourcefulness

·       
Ability
to work well with a diverse group of constituents; Awareness and understanding
of issues of privilege, oppression, and marginalized communities

·       
Willingness
to assume a range of unanticipated tasks and work flexible hours, including
some weekend

·       
Excellent
computer skills, including MS Office, familiarity with Mac preferable

·       
International
travel may be required after training period

·       
Knowledge
of MS Word and Excel

·       
Strong
understanding of financial management concepts
