About US:

The National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC&DB) was established by the Animal Breeding Act, 2001. It is one of the statutory semi-autonomous bodies of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF). Formation of NAGRC &DB was part of the fulfilment of the aspirations in the National Animal Breeding Policy (1997), document and the Action Plan for its implementation providing guidelines to all actors in the animal breeding and production value-chain. The actors included input suppliers, farmers, companies, researchers, extension workers and civic leaders on suitable breeds for the various ecological and production systems.

Job Summary: To
carry out basic accounting processes involving receipting revenue, keeping
custody of imprest, verifying documentations, maintaining books of accounts,
keeping custody of transaction records and support processing of general
payments

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·       To provide custody for accounting records and
documents.

·       To process deferred tax payments, tax returns
and keep records thereof.

·       To post financial transactions, cash books,
subsidiary ledgers to general ledger and maintain up-to-date record of books of
accounts.

·       To prepare pay change report forms and
reconcile payroll transaction reports.

·       To enter transactions into the commitment
control register.

·       To keep custody of cash/imprest, effect
payments, and maintain up-to-date cash book records.

·       To prepare draft monthly reconciliation
reports.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       The ideal candidate must hold a  bachelor’s degree in Bachelors of Commerce or
Business Administration with a bias in accounting obtained from a recognized
awarding institution;

OR

·       A professional qualification in accountancy
like: Accounting technicians certificate of Uganda (ATC-U) of ICPAU, Certified
AccountingTechnician (cat) certificate of ACCA, Certified Diploma in accounting
and Finance obtained from recognized institution/body affiliated to IFAC.
