The Uganda
Biodiversity Fund (UBF) is an independent Institution, ‘a Trust Fund’
established as a mechanism to provide sustainable financing for the
conservation of priority biodiversity and ecosystem services in Uganda. The
mission of UBF is: “to serve as a catalyst for mobilizing, managing and
channeling financial resources for biodiversity conservation and sustainable
use of natural resources in Uganda for the benefit of current and future
generations and the intrinsic value of nature”. UBF has been implementing
programmatic and management activities and undertaking financial transactions
since 2017.

Job Summary:   The Regional Coordinator will participate in
development of the regional coordination program and represent Uganda
Biodiversity Fund in its implementation. S/he will be the primary focal person
for reviewing regional office performance with Kampala staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  The Regional Program Coordinator among other
duties will:

·       
Be the
liaison between UBF, Central Government agencies, Local Government, Civil
Society and the private sector in Western Uganda.

·       
Together
with the key stakeholders in the region, identify key development issues and
priority Investments for the region with a view of protecting Biodiversity.

·       
Support
and promote knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the value of
biodiversity and ecosystem services in Western Uganda, including participation
in long term biodiversity research.

·       
Support
and promote actions that address the vulnerability of biodiversity and
ecosystems to climate change and other challenges in Western Uganda.

·       
Ensure
implementation of the recommendations of the research that was carried out on the
status of development and socio-economic issues in Western Uganda

·       
Coordinate
the Multi Sectoral meetings and agenda both at regional level and at National
Level

·       
Support
the sub-granting process to all local organizations in that region.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a Bachelors’ degree in a relevant field plus a minimum of
six years’ experience or a Masters’ degree in a related field plus a minimum of
three years of professional experience.

·       
A
minimum of three years’ experience coordinating activities in a geographically
diversified locations

·       
Professional
experience with civil society institutional coordination, advocacy or social
accountability activities.

·       
Good
Knowledge of the National Level processes and engagements and of district
political, legal and policy environment.

·       
Applicants
should have strong relationship management skills; ability to work with civil
society organizations and grantees; excellent writing skills; the ability to
work productively under time pressure; the capacity to work well independently.

·       
Experience
overseeing grantees and USAID reporting is an added advantage.

·       
Fluent
command of written and spoken English is required.
