of Department and Project Manager, Natural Resources Management.

the Environment (JESE) is a non-profit organization, with a focus on natural
resources Management. Founded in 1993, our projects and Programs have a
national character and currently implementing activities in Northern Uganda,
Rwenzori and the Albertine Regions. Our focus is on the following sectors;
agriculture, Water and Sanitation and Natural Resources Management. Vision: A
community where people and nature flourish.

Job Summary:  The Project Officer – IWRM will harness the
effective implementation and management of; projects, resources, collaboration
and networking and visibility of projects at various levels and areas of
interventions. Description JESE is currently implementing the IWRM project in
two catchments, Mpanga and Upper Lake Albert (Kamwenge & Buliisa
Districts). The project is implemented in close collaboration with the Local
government and Ministry of Water and the Environment. The project ends in 2021.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Prepares
monthly action plans for his/her engagements in the field

·       
Collect
data from households as and when it is needed

·       
Prepares
monthly activity reports

·       
Plan and
implement IWRM activities in Mpanga & Upper Lake Albert (ULA) – catchments.

·       
Facilitate
micro catchment planning activities in Mpanga & Upper Lake Albert (ULA).

·       
Facilitate
the formation and development of grassroots IWRM structures.

·       
Facilitate
sensitization of communities in Mpanga & ULA catchments in Natural
Resources Management, and Sanitation related issues.

·       
Keenly
monitor the implementation of IWRM activities in schools supported by JESE and
Protos-Join for water.

·       
Identify
the priority needs for IWRM related capacity building for community
participants and developing IWRM pilots

·       
Participate
in the design of capacity building plans and approaches for addressing
community IWRM priority needs

·       
Actively
contribute to the development of IWRM related capacity building materials,
processes and manuals

·       
Contribute
to the documentation of lessons learned from IWRM implemented activities

·       
In
charge of developing and documenting IWRM advocacy issues and sharing with the
district officials for implementation and follow up

·       
Liaise
and create linkage with the local government and relevant ministerial
departments and directorates in Mpanga and Upper Lake Albert catchments to
implement IWRM activities.

·       
Plan and
participate in Environment and WASH days in the district.

·       
Perform
any other duties as shall be delegated by the supervising authority.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate should have at least a degree in Environment, Natural
resources, Development studies, or any other degree in humanities but with
previous experience in implementation of projects in environment, water
resources Management and Conservation.

·       
The
candidate should also demonstrate good writing and planning skills and MUST be
able to work under minimum supervision.

·       
The
candidate should also be fluent in English and Runyakitara languages and should
possess basic computer skills; i.e., MS Office.

·       
The
candidate must demonstrate experience, knowledge in project management and
previous experience in managing Projects in the Water Resources Management.
