Mandela National
Stadium often referred to as Namboole Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in
Kampala, Uganda. It is currently used mostly for football matches, although
other sports are also practiced. The stadium has a capacity of 40,202 people.
The stadium was built with a grant of $36 million dollars from the People’s
Republic of China. The 40,202 capacity sports complex was built with a $36m
Chinese government grant and opened in 1997.

Job Summary: The
Accountant will be responsible for performing the  accounting work including  analyzing and verifying  fiscal 
records  and reports,  preparing 
financial and statistical  reports,  reconciling 
general ledger accounts, preparing annual   and mid-year budgets, participate in
preparing  responses to audit
reports,  providing  information 
to staff regarding 
accounting  policies  and procedures  and performing  other related 
work as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Contribute
to the up-dating of existing management policies regarding finance, financial
regulations and procedures to correspond to current accounting and reporting
requirements;

·       
Review
authorized Cheque Payment Vouchers, Cash Payment Vouchers (CPV);

·       
Certify
expenditure vouchers for the CFO’s approval;

·       
Produce
periodic financial statements for books of accounts and accountability reports;

·       
Oversee
the filing of all vouchers and the supporting documents, the accounting records
which are currently in use and those forming the archives;

·       
Review
and supervise the updating of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers in the
computerized Accounting package;

·       
Review
requisitions and payment vouchers;

·       
Give
technical support to Accounts Assistants, Cashier, Store Keeper, and carry out
physical inspection of their books;

·       
Prepare
and process the pay roll on a timely basis;

·       
Effect
monthly remittances of statutory deductions to the recipient organizations
(e.g. URA, Local service Tax and NSSF);

·       
Ensure
that the cash book and the Bank statements are reconciled;

·       
Prepare
and submit reports as required;

·       
Provide
guidance to departments and units of the organization in exercising budgetary
control;

·       
Develop
budgetary performance report/return formats;

·       
Carry
out unit-cost analysis and submit related reports to management on a regular
basis, with recommendations on how to improve efficiency;

·       
Prepare
variance reports and commentaries on abnormal variations;

·       
Provide
effective leadership to subordinates, and maintain good teamwork;

·       
Participates
in the preparation and filing of annual 
and mid-year budgets;

·       
Participates
in the fiscal year –end and fixed assets accounting;

·       
Maintain
and regularly update the fixed asset register;

·       
Perform
other duties as required  by the job  or as delegated from time to time;

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a Degree preferably B.Com, BBA, BAF (Majoring in
Accounting) plus at least Level 2 of 
professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA

·       
At least
five (5) years of experience two (2) years of which should have been at similar
level.

and maintaining  clear and
accurate financial reports

Experience
reconciling  accounts, records, reviewing
and verifying  data for accuracy and
preparing  schedules  and 
reports
