growing commercial bank offering a variety of innovative products and services.
DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of
the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development
Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda
Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International
Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25%
stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development
projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing
financial commercial lending institutions.

                               

Job Summary:    The Learning and Development Manager is accountable
for achieving high performance standards of all employees in the Bank through
development and implementation of comprehensive and cost-effective training and
development solutions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Drive
culture initiatives within the Bank and manage the team-based performance
programs across all competencies.

·       
Identify
performance improvement opportunities and gaps, conduct analyses, and develop
solutions that will deliver the desired results through training programs.

·       
Provide direction
and development of lasting leadership development programs within the business

·       
Oversee
the creation of content, e-learning tools, and other training materials that
will impact behaviour-changing training using various training methods
including but not limited to job aids, facilitator and participant guides,
on-the-job training systems and simulation exercises.

·       
Design
training manuals and conduct on-going training for employees.

·       
Lead
change management in liaison with the functional heads.

·       
Initiate
and prepare an annual training calendar, manage the training administration and
budget.

·       
Conduct
induction sessions and arrange on-the- job training for new hires and existing
staff as well as develop online training modules for staff within established
budgets.

·       
Liaise
with functional heads to identify training needs and design cost effective
interventions in line with business demands.

·       
Undertake
evaluation of all L&D interventions to ensure that they are effective and
have met the objectives using feedback from among others; course evaluations
and picking out lessons from each training for action by management.

·       
Manage
the logistical aspects of all training interventions from sourcing of
consultants/institutions, to the procurement process, actual training and
ensure that evaluation and impact is carried out within the agreed time frame.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal applicant for the DFCU Bank Learning and Development Manager job must
hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business related field or
Education from a reputable University.

·       
A
postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management is an added advantage.

·       
Five years
of working experience in a training and development capacity, in a large
business setting.

·       
Ability
to develop strong relationships with others and leverage those relationships
across the business by influencing management to take up training programs that
ultimately influence the overall performance of the business.

·       
Strong
communication skills.

·       
Strong
analytical skills to identify performance improvement opportunities and gaps,
conduct analyses, and develop solutions that will deliver the desired results
through training programs.

·       
Well-developed
people skills with ability to influence others.

·       
Excellent
interpersonal, negotiation and time management skills.

·       
Excellent
planning, organizing and coordinating skills.

·       
Ability
to initiate new ideas and practices and to carry them forward.

·       
Good
understanding of the HR policies and procedures and ability to interpret them
to employees.
