Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Providing
research support in the program activities, assessments and reporting.

·       
Ensuring
daily targets are met while ensuring quality and ethics are adhered to;

·       
Arranging
and conducting interviews in accordance with pre-determined guidelines, data
collection procedures, tools and documentation procedures;

·       
Coding
and verification of data collected;

·       
Ensuring
that data collected is accurate, cleaned, complete, properly handled and stored
in accordance with the principles of confidentiality;

·       
Taking
responsibility for the data collection tools such as tablets, computers, etc.
entrusted to him/her during the data collection period;

·       
Other
responsibilities as might be required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The applicants
for the Research Assistant jobs must hold a Uganda Advanced Certificate of
Education (UACE) or its equivalent plus Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE)
with at least 5 credits, including English Language and Mathematics; or the
equivalent.

·       
One year
of cumulative experience in conducting field based data collection in humanitarian
and development context.

·       
Proficiency
in relevant computer applications, particularly Microsoft Suite (MS Word, MS
PowerPoint, MS Excel and Access).

·       
Additional
knowledge of data collection applications ODK, KOBO Toolbox desirable;

·       
Experience
in Use of tablets and/or electronic devices for data collection;

·       
MUST be
a current resident of Kikuube District and or neighbouring Districts.

·       
Strong
English language written and verbal communication skills with ability to write
reports.

·       
Cultural
sensitivity, patience and flexibility.

·       
Ability
to communicate in languages used in and around the settlement i.e. Kiswahili,
Runyakitara, Luo, Kigegere, French and Kinyarwanda/Kinyabwisha is desirable.

Desirable:

·       
Ability
to conduct interviews and record data accurately.

·       
Knowledge
of data management

·       
Ability
to work independently with minimal supervision

·       
Ability
to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing

·       
Attention
to detail

·       
Sound
judgment to identify and report issues to supervisors
