practically-trained teachers and youth mentors. Educate!’s goal is to make this
practical, skills-based model part of national education systems.

Job Summary:  The Experiments Officer shall be responsible
for the following functions: Coordination & Implementation of Experiments
With the support of the Program Manager ensure experiments implemented are well
aligned to program plans and strategies, coordinating with the program training
team for implementation ensuring the team understands the key hypothesis/
assumptions to be tested, that the right data collection tools are made
available to the team and are used, and data is collected and analysed to
inform product development. Support the development of experiments reports.
Quality Assurance and Reporting Collaborate with the Training Officer and
Program Manager to determine quality assurance strategies and questions, and
support the monitoring of quality program delivery identifying successes and
gaps for future improvement. Support the development of reports on program
quality. Networking & Learning Complete required designer trainings and
certifications (relevant sections of Design Academy). Learning from local field
staff, experimentation, and referencing international research. The OosY
Program’s focus is to serve  the lowest
income and most vulnerable segment of out-of-school youth by exploring the
creation of an alternative or multiple alternative learning experience to
academic secondary.  You’ll be joining a
motivated, passionate, overachieving team that is positioning Educate! to be
the leader in skills-based secondary education in Africa and intensively impact
millions of youth each year.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Coordination
and Implementation of Experiments (60%):   

Coordination

·       Ensure you have and
remain up to date on planned experiments, their purpose and relevance to the
program strategy

·       Support the Program
Manager to coordinate the operational aspects of running experiments,
including:

·       identification and
mobilization of sample participants

·       Proactively engaging all
relevant team members in the development of research questions and data
collection tools

·       Budgeting and allocation
of resources for experiments

·       Planning for training of
program team members on upcoming experiments

·       Ensure the program team
is informed of upcoming experiments including communication of their roles and
responsibilities in implementation

·       Support the development
of data collection tools

Implementation

·       Ensure planned
experiments are implemented and run smoothly with all the participating
stakeholders kept informed on any updates and changes

·       Support training of
program staff on the purpose of experiments and understanding of data
collection tools

·       Ensure all data
collection tools:

·       are available to the
implementing team in a timely manner,

·       Are familiar to the team
through training sessions on their purpose and use

·       Are filled as required
during experiment implementation, and

·       Are collected on
schedule

·       Ensure data collected is
shared for analysis with insights drawn shared with the product design and
implementation teams

·       Support the Program
Manager to ensure field activities including data collection are meeting the
objectives of the experiment

Quality Assurance and
Reporting (30%)

Program
Quality Assurance and Reporting

·       Support the Program
Manager in the development of a clear quality assurance plan for each
experiment

·       Support the Program team
in the development and implementation of a clear quality assurance plan for any
changes made to the program and design based on learning from each experiment
program delivery

·       Support the monitoring
of program quality assurance

·       Support the development
and delivery of monthly reports with accurate and readable information on
Experiments

Networking and Learning
(10%) 

·       Complete required
relevant designer training and certifications (relevant sections of Design
Academy)

·       Learn and implement the
design processes and principles that will be applied in the experiments work

·       Respond to emails and
inquiries from the team on Experiments work

·       Support research on
program participants and program development

·       Engage in and seek
opportunities to learn from other organizations and individuals in Uganda

·       Participate actively in
the global design community by learning from local field staff,
experimentation, and referencing international research.

·       Designers are encouraged
to proactively network with other organizations from diverse fields.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       The ideal candidate must
hold a  Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant
field with a minimum of three (3) years professional with 1-2 years experience
in a high paced fast-moving organization.

·       Experience in program
management and design

·       Experience working in
the field of education in Uganda preferred. Knowledge of Monitoring and
Evaluation is a plus.

·       Experience in Training
or facilitation skills; coordination of several activities and exceptional
planning and organizational skills
