About US:

The
Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) Uganda’s apex body for the private
sector is collaborating with the MasterCard Foundation (MCF) to co-implement
Young Africa Works in Uganda – Enhancing Lead Firm Structure for Youth
Employment Program. The Intervention’s ultimate goal is to create dignified and
fulfilling work for young women and men and contribute to the effort to lifting
Ugandans out of poverty. The intervention focuses on creating, maintaining and
sustaining growth in job markets through strengthening the capacity of actors
to efficiently produce and sell their goods and services in expanded markets,
developing new diversified financing mechanisms as well as growing the capacity
of business leaders and their support service providers to manage and expand
their enterprises. This transformative intervention will also transition Micro
Enterprises to Small Enterprises.

Job Summary:     The Investment Specialist/Trade and Allied
Services Sector will head the division within the Project Management Unit
responsible for promoting the development and operation of the Lead Firm
Structure in the Trade and allied Services sector. The IS/Trade will provide
required technical expertise to support, coordinate and implement activities
relating to the development and operations of the LFS in the Trade and Allied
Services sector. He/she will be an integral member of the project management
team. The IS/Trade will report to and be guided and supported by the Project
Director.

The
IS/Trade has the responsibility to take the lead in designing strategies and
actions that support producers, producer organisations, SMEs and Lead Firm(s)
to increase business production, productivity and therefor profitability and
returns for all participating stakeholders in the Trade and Allied Services
supply chain. The specific duties of the IS/ Trade

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The applicant must hold a bachelor’s level degree or higher in economics,
business management/administration, development economics, project management,
international trade, or related field;

·       
At least five years of working experience in business development or
similar roles in a large reputable organisation or in implementing development
or investment projects including in private sector settings. Demonstrated
experience in BDS facilitation to beneficiaries is an added advantage.

·       
A good understanding of private sector development issues and
appreciation of the role the private sector can play in economic development;

·       
Demonstrated written, analytical, presentation, reporting and computing
skills and familiarity with modern communication systems (internet, worldwide
web, email etc.);

·       
The applicants should be passionate young professional Ugandans with
strong understanding of the private sector issues (national, regional and
global)

·       
A passion for youth employment- men and women;

·       
Desire for learning and use of information for adaptation and action.

Flexible, team player and passionate about private sector

·       
A commitment to the protection of youth and children
