DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of
the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development
Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda
Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International
Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25%
stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development
projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing
financial commercial lending institutions.

Job Summary:  The Team Leader – Corporate Credit Analysis
will be responsible for supervising Credit Analysts in originating and
structuring of Corporate Banking facilities, reviewing proposals originated by
the team, monitoring the assigned portfolio for compliance to covenants and
maintenance of portfolio quality and following up with production of credit
offer letters and disbursement post approval.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise a team of analysts and support them in structuring of new and
    existing client’s applications.
  • Review and prepare quality credit proposals.
  • Regular liaison with the credit approvers for quick resolution and
    decisioning of client’s applications.
  • Provide technical support to analysts to have timely delivery of
    credit proposals that meet the bank’s lending policies.
  • Schedule client visits for existing and new potential clients
    especially for complex and structured deals.
  • Monitoring of the portfolio to minimize loan loss and NPAs by
    advising RMs on the quality of the portfolio by analyzing the NPA ratios
    of their customers, portfolio at risk and accounts in arrears.
  • Train and develop staff to constantly improve underwriting skills
    for the team.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the DFCU Bank Team Leader – Corporate Credit
    Analysis job placement must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting,
    Economics or Statistics.
  • Credit analysis and underwriting Certification.
  • At least five years of experience in financial services environment
    with at least 2 years supervisory experience in Credit Risk Management
    environment.
  • Excellent credit analysis and underwriting skills interpretation of
    complex financial statements.
  • Ability to understand and interpret company financial statements.
  • Awareness of business issues and current economic/market trends.
  • Computer knowledge especially working spread sheets, power point and
    word processor.
  • Results- oriented individual with independent and sound
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
