less than an hour’s drive from the capital city Kampala, Uganda Christian
University is one of Uganda’s leading teaching and research universities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for entering all payment vouchers
- Preparing and making adjustment vouchers.
- Reconciling all control accounts and reporting to the Bursar any
anomalies. - Management, checking and verifying the accuracy of the payroll for
both full time and part time staff. - Reviewing monthly trial
balances - Training and supervising all accounts personnel.
- Ensuring that documents, vouchers, cheque counter folios, receipt
copies and all supporting documents are brought for filing. - Preparing quarterly and final financial reports.
- Managing the staff statutory deductions and ensuring that they are
carefully done and in time. - Ensuring that all donated funds are receipted.
- Managing the budget including projections and monitoring.
- Carry out routine bank reconciliations of all bank statements.
- Reconcile cash and petty cash floats.
- Supervising Assistant
Accountant - Any other official duties that the Bursar may assign from time to
time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold
a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration or Bachelor
of Business Science majoring in Accounting or finance from a recognized
institution of higher learning. - A professional qualification (at least level 3) in Accounting or
Finance, obtained from a recognized institution, is a must e.g.
CPA/ACCA/CIA/FIA - Ability to work under pressure.
- Must be a good leader with excellent communication skills.
- Committed and mature practicing Christian.
- At least three years of experience performing similar tasks in a
large and reputable public or private sector organization (One in which
he/she supervised subordinates) - Must be literate in relevant Accounting Packages.
