About Tugende:
Tugende is a technology-enabled asset finance company with a social mission. We provide an affordable path to ownership of income-generating assets for proven entrepreneurs. Our primary product is a lease to own motorcycle financing package which includes training, life and health insurance, and active support. Tugende currently serves tens of thousands of clients in Uganda and we are preparing to extend our offering into Kenya.

With a market for motorcycle taxis of over 800,000 drivers in East Africa alone, Tugende is expanding rapidly in our core product. We are also building a platform with our staff, branches, data, systems, and deep knowledge of the informal sector, to expand into other asset financings as successfully as we have with our current core product.

About this Role: The Senior Product Development Officer will be working in the Product development department | Special projects and she/he will be responsible for conducting field research seeking new product opportunities for Tugende.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
The job holder will perform the following duties:
·         Conduct field research seeking new product opportunities. Write product briefs and make recommendations for further exploration.
·         Help develop proposals to pilot new products.
·         Assist with marketing activities to build pipeline for new products.
·         Manage the credit process for new products, creating accurate credit analyses and recommending credit approvals.
·         Assist with the procurement and distribution of products. Submit timely requisitions and follow up regularly with suppliers.
·         Manage a collections portfolio and maintain a PAR30 below 5% and a PAR15 below 15%.
·         For scalable products, develop training materials and offload product knowledge into operations at branch level. Ensure operations can sustainably manage products.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
·         The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Planning and Management, or Quantitative Economics.
·         Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Suites.
·         Experience in credit analysis with a financial institution
·         Experience with managing collections
·         Experience with a customer relationship management system

Skills, knowledge and abilities
·         The ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks. You'll be asked to conduct research, analyze clients' credit profiles, source and distribute products, and manage a collections portfolio.
·         A history of taking initiative and exceeding expectations. Results that have proven you go above and beyond what is asked.
·         Inquisitive. You must be able to ask questions and dive deeply into a subject, whether it's to understand a person's business or ensure a client’s ability to repay the lease.
·         Quantitatively and qualitatively analytical, with the ability to simultaneously analyze a customer's cash flows while determining whether they're providing honest and accurate information.
·         Personable and able to create trustworthy relationships with clients and suppliers.
·         Strong time management skills. You set priorities and move quickly from one task to the next.
·         Strong communication and presentation skills.
·         Drivers license for both motorcycles and cars.
