Job Summary:  The Driver is responsible for driving the
assigned project vehicle and the maintenance of this vehicle.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Keep vehicle clean;
  • Operate vehicle in a safe and courteous manner and always follow
    road safety standards;
  • Regularly inspect the vehicle and regularly perform general
    maintenance services as specified in the vehicle manual in order to keep
    the vehicle in good condition;
  • Advise the Administration team and the CIP Uganda Country Manager in
    due course on minor or major repairs as soon as a problem is detected;
  • Take vehicle at regular intervals for servicing as specified in the
    vehicle manual, in consultation with CIP Uganda office;
  • Drive the Project Manager, Nutritionist and other CIP project team
    to the field as needed or as decided by the Project Manager, Nutritionist;
  • Assist in the delivery of mail, equipment, supplies, documents to
    partners and other institutions as required;
  • Assist in any other activity as needed;
  • Update the vehicle logbook on a daily basis with the trips
    undertaken indicating start kms, end kms, the trip description and who was
    responsible for the trip;
  • Send copy of vehicle logbook at the end of each month for the
    respective month to the CIP Uganda office for charging mileage costs to
    CIP Tanzania project (Forgotten Crops Project) and different partners;
  • Liaise regularly with Project Manager, Nutritionist and provide
    weekly updates on activities;
  • Report accidents to the CIP Uganda office, the CIP Uganda Country
    Manager and the police as soon as they occur;
  • Any other duties that may be allocated by Project Manager,
    Nutritionist.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The candidate should have a minimum of knowledge in technical
    studies;
  • At least two years of relevant experience including 4 X 4 experience
    in rough terrains with a safe driving record;
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Driver’s license class A, B, C, E;
  • Basic mechanic knowledge;
  • Certificate of good conduct;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to exercise
    initiative and reasonable judgement;
  • Should have at least a basic understanding of and speak the English
    language;
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
  • Computer literate in Word and Excel – an added advantage
