Job Summary:  The Community Development Officer has
responsibility to initiate, oversee and support the implementation of case
management, child protection strategies and overall project activities in the
zone. The Project Officer (PO) will be responsible for coordinating and
managing and providing mentorship and guidance to the community workers to
ensure that the activities are implemented in a timely manner and within the
required CP standards. The PO will represent and advocate for Save the
Children’s work and organizational priorities in child protection with a wide
range of external parties including Government (OPM), communities, donors
during field visits, and other humanitarian agencies operating in the zone.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The candidate for the Save the Children International Community
    Development Officer career placement should hold a degree in social
    work/social sciences, education, community psychology or equivalent.
  • At least one year relevant work experience in child protection
    programmes.
  • Solid knowledge base and practical experience in community based
    child protection approaches,
  • Case management and child participation methodologies.
  • Experience in building relationships, fostering inter-agency
    coordination and experience of representation to external parties.
  • Strong self-starter, able to set up and manage child protection
    programmes.
