Joint Clinical
Research Centre (JCRC) is a National Ugandan Organization that was established
in 1991 as a Medical Institution and HIV/AIDS Centre of Excellence specializing
in Medical Research, Health Care and Training.

Job Summary: The
Medical Officer is responsible for management of research among in and out
patients at joint clinical research centre.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Enroll and follow up research
    participants which involves management of infection, capturing quality
    data, carrying out research specific procedures and referral where need
    arises.
  • Assess, investigate, initiate and
    monitor both in and out patients on antiretroviral therapy.
  • Manage toxicities, opportunistic
    infections and any other co-morbidities affecting patients on
    antiretroviral therapy.
  • Respond to emergencies, carryout
    required procedures on the ward and appropriately refer patients where
    need arises.
  • Carryout preventive HIV care through
    offering post exposure prophylaxis and prevention of mother to child
    transmission.
  • Manage tuberculosis out patients in case
    of illness, re-assessment and completion of TB treatment.
  • Capture adequate, accurate and quality
    data for all our patients in their files as well as in the relevant
    software databases.
  • Engage in continuous medical education,
    training, and be knowledgeable of WHO, Ministry of Health and JCRC
    guidelines on patient management and follow up.
  • Follow-up on all study participants.
  • Perform any other duties as may be
    assigned to you from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate for the Joint
    Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) Medical Officer job must hold an MBCHB or
    equivalent medical degree and registered with the Medical Council
  • Additional postgraduate education in
    epidemiology or public Health
