health of vulnerable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.

About USAID RHITES-N Project:

RHITES-N, Lango will
contribute to improving key population- based national health indicators; build
the capacity of the Ugandan government to carry out a sustainable and locally-
driven response to the HIV epidemic, while also improving TB, malaria,
nutrition, MNCH+A, and WASH outcomes. JSI will work with Ugandan stakeholders
to design and implement health system strengthening strategies to scale up
high-impact, evidence-based interventions at the national, sub-regional,
district, and community levels. Interventions will include VMMC, virtual
elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, antiretroviral therapy, and
condom education and distribution. JSI will focus where the greatest impact can
be realized, with a priority on hard-to-reach and high-HIV-prevalence
locations.

Job Summary:  The Project Officer – Linkages and Referrals
will map, assess capacity, build capacity of community facility linkage
structures and processes in place, Work with DHT and CDOs to strengthen
community based structures that will create demand for health and nutrition
service, strengthen client appointment and tracking systems at the supported
health facilities; support the functionality of CHEWS, VHTs, MNH Peer Mothers,
Adolescent champions, Male action groups and Family support groups within the
supported districts, Support implementation of the community referral system;
use of quality improvement approaches in the referral and linkage system and
other community activities. Together with the DHT, train and Mentor health
workers on Ministry of Health tools and processes for linkages and referrals
and support DHOs and District biostatistician to ensure that all data on
community interventions are timely reported and accurately ted into the DHlS2.
Ensure proper documentation of work done achievements realized, lessons learnt,
and best practice throughout the program implementation.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in sociology, social
    work and social administration, community development, community health,
    development studies or related courses. Postgraduate qualification in
    Public Health, Sociology or Community Health would be an added advantage.
  • At least three years’ experience in HIV/TB/MNH/Malaria/Nutrition
    related community work with government institution or NGOs involved in
    community work.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong inter-personal skills,
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and a working knowledge of
    Luo.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team with frequent travel to
    the field. Have solid computer skills.
  • Knowledge of the relevant Uganda national health policies,
    strategies and structures.
