About URA:
The Uganda Revenue
Authority (URA) was established by the Uganda Revenue Authority Statute of 1991
and set up in September of the same year as a central body for assessment and
collection of specified revenue, to administer and enforce the laws relating to
such revenue and to provide for related matters. This statute incorporated all
the laws that were in force then regarding tax collection. The new organization
(URA) amalgamated the three tax administration departments that were
responsible for all the taxes collected by the Central Government of Uganda.
Job Summary: The Electrical Engineer will ensure efficient
functioning of all electrical installations in different facilities of URA.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure that all
Equipment in the facility are well maintained and in good working condition
- Ensure that all Generators, Switch gears, Air conditioners, Lighting
and other Electrical systems are in kept in good working condition. - Carryout routine inspections in line with standard procedures to
mitigate breakdowns. - Carry out approved new installation works and repairs to the
existing equipment/systems. - Participate in carrying out Preventive maintenance on all equipment
in the regions and maintain log. - Work with service providers/contractors to ensure value for money.
- Initiate improvements, TORs and cause for new equipment
procurements. - Prepare and submit reports as may be required by the Supervisor
Facilities Management
Plan and manage the
performance and development of staff under supervision so as to improve their
productivity
- Develop performance agreements with all staff under supervision
- Monitor staff performance and provide guidance and periodic feedback
for performance improvement - Assess the training and development needs of staff under supervision
and recommend appropriate interventions - Provide coaching and mentoring support to staff under supervision
- Initiate and implement activities/programs intended to create and
harness teamwork in the facilities management unit
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicants for the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Electrical
Engineer job opportunities should hold honors Bachelor’s degree in
electrical engineering, - Project management, business management or construction management.
- A registered/licensed member of engineering professional body
- A minimum of three years’ experience in electrical maintenance and
repairs. - Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of procurement laws and regulations
- Possess thorough knowledge of facilities low & medium voltage
electrical distribution systems including transformers, MCC’s, generators,
ATS’, UPS’, etc - Possessing good knowledge of the latest NEC codes with ability to
read and interpret design drawings and specifications - Knowledge in CAD
- Ability to develop, communicate the vision, motivate and influence a
team of professionals towards the realization of a team’s mandate - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Pays attention to details
- Excellent analytical skills
- Ability to work with and develop teams.
