About US:

Uganda Christian
University was founded when the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College was
promoted as a university in 1997. Bishop Tucker Theological College trained
clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The local
chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono.
International partnerships were part of the College’s missionary history. The
Church Mission Society teamed with Ugandan leaders and others to assure the
College had the necessary intellectual and other capital. By the late 1990s,
the Church of Uganda sought to have a broader impact on society through the
higher education – not only of clergy but of other professionals as well.
Uganda Christian University was established in 1997.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·        
Assist
drive better procurement practice across the University.

·        
Receive
and review requisitions from various departments for completeness and
correctness in line with the approved the Procurement Manager in coordinating
procurement activities in the University.

·        
Assist
in the development of internal procurement procedures and documentation.

·        
Assist
in supervising the procurement of goods and services and other procurement
activities.

·        
Assisting
in the implementation of supplier contracts.

·        
Review
and update suppliers’ delivery schedules for all categories of goods and
services to ensure fair distribution of orders.

·        
Communicate
opportunities to achieve better value for money through better procurement
practices.

·        
Liaising
with the Manager Procurement in areas of commercial or reputational risk.

·        
Plan and
develop sensitization schedules for different stakeholders (internal and
external) in the procurement cycle.

·        
Work closely
with user departments to evaluate and appraise suppliers against their
performance.

·        
Actively
participate in carrying out market surveys to identify latest trends in prices
and maintain updated price lists.

·        
Perform
any other official duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

·        
The
applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Procurement and supply Chain
Management, or Business Administration a closely related and relevant
discipline from a recognized Institution of Higher Learning.

·        
Bachelors
degree in Procurement and supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a
closely related and relevant discipline from a recognized Institution of Higher
Learning.

·        
Professional
qualification in procurement and Supply Chain Management, obtained from an internationally
recognized Institution of Higher learning e.g. CIPS,CPA is an added advantage.

·        
A
minimum of five (5) years work experience in a procurement function performing
similar or related tasks

OR

·        
Bachelor’s
degree in Procurement and supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a
closely related and relevant discipline from a recognized Institution of Higher
Learning.

·        
Must
have a professional qualification in procurement and Supply Chain Management,
obtained from an internationally recognized Institution of Higher learning e.g.
CIPS, CPA.

·        
A
minimum of two (2) years post professional qualification work experience as a
Procurement Assistant or Officer in a similar position in a reputable sector or
organization.

·        
Proven
knowledge of Public Procurement & Disposal Laws and Regulations of Uganda
is essential.

·        
Must be self-motivated.

·        
Must be
a committed and practicing Christian.
