an International Non-Governmental Organisation (INGO) with headquarters in
Stockholm, Sweden and operating in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. Our
vision is “A sustainable environment that enables women and men living in
poverty to improve their lives”. Our target group is smallholder farmer
families living in poverty, with a special focus on women, youth and children,
who are members or potential members of democratic farmers’ organisations, in
areas vulnerable to climate change in Sub-Saharan Africa.

About the PREP project:

Vi Agroforestry in
collaboration with the Red Cross will implement the Project for Resilience and
Empowerment of Refugees and their host Partners (PREP). The project aims to
provide expanded, inclusive and sustainable solutions to build self-reliance of
refugees and host communities in Itura sub-country in Moyo district. PREP is a
3-year project targeting 15,000 beneficiaries with interventions such as
sustainable agriculture, WASH, energy-solutions and income-generating
activities.

Job Summary:  The position of Agroforestry and SALM
(Sustainable Agriculture Land Management) Officer provides technical support to
Vi Agroforestry’s partner organisations primarily on sustainable agriculture
land management practices including agroforestry; environment and climate
change; gender mainstreaming and organizational development.

The position will
also provide project and partner oversight which covers the full project cycle,
from inception to final reporting. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical support, knowledge and guidance to partner
    organisations in line with the project goals and objectives, as well as
    capacity requirement of each partner, in order to achieve the set targets
  • Planning, monitoring, follow-up, reviewing and reporting on project
    and partner progress
  • Coach and mentor partner staff and other project stakeholders to
    ensure quality implementation of SALM and agroforestry, as well as other
    components under the responsibility of Vi Agroforestry
  • Promote gender equality, specific focus on women, children and
    youth; and a rights- based approach
  • Create linkages and relations with other international or national
    organisations, government representatives, donors and other stakeholders to
    widen Vi Agroforestry’s networks and visibility.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate must hold an academic degree in agriculture,
    forestry and/or environment
  • Five year of working experience in providing extension services in
    reputable organisations Experience from project management working in
    partnership with local organisations
  • Experience including in-depth understanding of logical frameworks
  • Proven experience in community development work, including extension
    and participatory learning methods
  • Computer literacy with good knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Excellent proficiency in English, oral and written
  • Additional competences and skills
  • Valid driver’s licence and experience from riding a motorcycle in
    the field
  • Familiar with local languages in West Nile
  • Experience from working with a rights-based approach
  • Good networker
  • Be able to work independently
  • The candidate should be organised, analytical, with proven integrity
