development organization that positively contributes towards improving the
living standards and conditions of those adversely affected by disasters and
conflict in the Horn, East & Central Africa by implementing WASH, Health,
Education, Livelihoods, Community service & development and Protection
programs in the region for a period of more than 20 years.
About UNHCR Project:
HIJRA with funding
from the UNHCR in Uganda is implementing a multi-sectoral Program for refugees
in Oruchinga settlement (Isingiro district), Nakivale settlement (Isingiro
district), Nyakabande Transit Center (Kisoro district) and Kyangwali Settlement
(Hoima District).
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure proper case management and documentation
  • Coordination of protection activities with partner focal points and
    through proper referrals
  • Conduct regular case follow up in the community and with partners
  • Prepare timely weekly, monthly, quarterly other reports as required
  • Capacity building of community to participate in their own
    protection
  • Prepare and submit timely requisition to enable implementation
  • From time to time undertake any other duty as may be assigned by the
    supervisor
  • Contribute to proposal development for the organization
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the HIJRA Protection Officer job
    opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Social
    Administration, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Law, Human rights or
    a comparable discipline
  • Three years of work experience in the same field of development and
    humanitarian work and NGOs’
  • Ability to produce high-quality documentation
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills and the ability to
    interact with a number of different partners and contacts, including
    governmental authorities, UNHCR, victims and their families etc.
  • Strong computer skills i.e. Microsoft office, PowerPoint and E-mail.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
