YWCA-YMCA Global
(YGlobal) is an ecumenical and diaconal organization for development and
solidarity. We are owned by the Norwegian YWCA- YMCA and the YWCA-YMCA Guides
and Scouts of Norway, and work in partnership with our sister organizations in

2016 been involved in a UNHCR 1325 project in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement,
Bweyale.
Job Summary:  The Information Counselling and Legal
Assistance Manager is responsible for supporting and providing advice to
counsellors, project officers and volunteers working under YGlobal’s UNSCR 1325
programme in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure that the needs of the project participants reaching out to
    counselors are adequately addressed.
  • Improving referral mechanisms for the cases that need to be handled
    by other institutions.
  • Consolidate and strengthen the psychosocial component of the program
    through proper management of cases.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filling of the records and ensure
    confidentiality is upheld.
  • Keep cases organized by improving and organizing files, monitoring
    calendars, meeting deadlines and documenting actions.
  • Develop case management database making it possible to confirm
    status of each case at any required time.
  • Strengthen and develop the relations with OPM, UNHCR and the other
    funding/ implementing partners.
  • Attend and represent YGlobal in relevant forums including cluster
    coordination meetings.
  • Strengthen the capacities of the counsellors and volunteers and
    ensure that they continuously develop their competence and capacity.
  • Support Project Manager and the office in Kiryandongo in developing
    correspondence on letters and memos addressed to YGlobal office in
    Kiryandongo.
  • Contribute to YGlobal’s comprehensive approach towards development
    and qualitative synergy between project components in a way that creates
    value.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in law with good
    understanding of international and Ugandan laws on refugees’ protection.
  • Two years of working experience in similar position.
  • Proficiency in common computer packages i.e. Word, PowerPoint,
    Excel.
  • Experience of working with Refugees is an advantage.
  • Experience of working with Gender related issues is an added
    advantage.
  • Good knowledge of social, economic and political situation of South
    Sudan.
  • A creative individual who possesses energy, self-confidence and
    flexibility; thrives in a dynamic multi-cultural environment
  • Demonstrated appreciation of psychosocial support and Livelihoods
    development of the poor
  • Should be adaptable, be a good team player and of high integrity
  • Qualified South Sudanese Nationals and Female candidates are
