The Infectious
Diseases Institute (IDI) is an international non-profit organization which is a
partnership of infectious diseases and public health specialists. The overall
objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems with strong emphasis on
Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity Development. IDI has five
operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention,
Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services (provided
through a partnership with the Makerere University – John Hopkins University
Core Lab) and Outreach.
Job Summary:  The Human Resource Assistant – Talent
Management & Development will provide human resources administrative
support to the Talent Management & Development (Learning & development,
performance management & OD) function in line with the organization’s Human
Resource Policies and strategy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Coordinate all the staff learning and development events in line
    with the staff learning and development policy.
  • Provide support in developing and updating annual training calendar
  • Provide support to the Performance Management process by receiving,
    sorting and tracking submission of staff performance appraisal information
    in line with the PMS policies and procedures.
  • Support staff probation management, by tracking their status on a
    monthly basis and draft letters of confirmation for senior management
    approval.
  • Support in compilation of training reports and coordinate the
    implementation of the identified action points
  • Produce results on performance gaps and a list of staff with
    performance gaps
  • Follow up evaluation report of the performance after the training
  • Coordinate the orientation and on boarding of new employees
  • Follow up on the technical orientation training
  • Maintain and keep proper custody of learning and development tools
    (audio visual equipment, laptop and other accessories)
  • Coordinate the orientation and induction process for new staff ensuring
    that all materials required for orientation are in place.
  • File all records relating to talent management and development in
    line with the HRMIS policies and procedures.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant for the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) Human
    Resource Assistant – Talent Management & Development job must hold a
    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or
    industrial/Organizational Psychology
  • Excellent understanding of IDI Human Resource policies
  • Keen interest in the HR core functions of learning & development
  • Proven experience as an HR assistant, staff assistant or relevant
    human resources/ administrative position
  • Computer literate at least in all the MS Office packages
  • Hands on experience with an HRIS or HRMS
  • Basic knowledge of labor laws
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communications skills
