About US:
The Government of
Uganda (GoU) has received credit from the international Fund for Agricultural
Development (IFAD) towards financing a ten-year National Oil Palm Project
(NOPP). The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture Animal
Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) as the Lead Agency. Implementation will also
involve other partners including other Ministries, agencies, District Local
Governments and private sector players with strong public and private sector
partnership in project implementation.
Job Summary:  The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS)
Officer will ensure that good EHS practices are followed by all oil palm
smallholders supported by NOPP. The EHS will have the responsibility of
ensuring that both farmers and the private sector partner produce oil palm in
an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner. The EHS Officer will be
the lead person in ensuring environmental and social practices for sustainable
oil palm production. The Officer will be in charge of ensuring that the
conditions of approval for the environmental and social impact assessment are adhered
to and effectively executed by the project.
