About USAID CHC Project:
Communication for
Healthy Communities (CHC) is a five- year program implemented through a
cooperative agreement between the United States Agency for International
Development USAID/Uganda) and FHI 360. The project is designed to support the
Government of Uganda and partners to design and implement quality health
communication interventions to contribute to reduction in HIV Infections, total
fertility, maternal & child mortality, malnutrition, malaria &
tuberculosis. CHC works with Ministry of Health and partners to rollout a
nationwide OBULAMU integrated health communication platform through: Mass
media; outdoor media; social and digital media; and, inter personal
communication (IPC).
Job Summary:   The Senior Advisor, Social Marketing, will
directly lead and be responsible for all aspects of the social marketing
portfolio of activities, including management of partnerships with commercial
sales and distribution entities. Reporting to the CHC Chief of Party, the
Senior Advisor will collaborate closely with the Senior Technical Advisor,
Senior MER Advisor, and health communication technical leads to ensure the
development, implementation, and monitoring of all social marketing activities.
The Senior SM Advisor will also coordinate all technical support provided to
the GOU to implement and monitor the national Total Market Approach strategy
for
contraceptive
commodities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Collaborate with other CHC staff to design and implement targeted
    marketing activities, including sales, distribution, merchandising, and
    promotion to maximize sales, coverage, and use of USAID socially marketed
    products.
  • Monitor weekly and monthly data to inform adjustments to sales,
    distribution, merchandising, and promotion activities.
  • Manage and nurture relationships with key stakeholders including
    MOH, UAC, USAID IPs, civil society/faith-based organizations and related
    Technical Working Groups (TWGs).
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance to appropriate GOU technical
    working groups to advance the TMA strategy.
  • Write and submit weekly updates, activity, quarterly and annual
    reports for all key tasks undertaken to the COP, DCOP, Senior MER Advisor
    and STA.
  • Represent CHC in selected strategic meetings and events with MOH,
    UAC, and USG IPs.
  • Supervise one Sales and Distribution Manager and develop scopes of
    work and supervise consultants contracted for specific tasks related to
    the social marketing activities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicants for the USAID FHI 360 Senior Advisor, Social
    Marketing jobs must hold Bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration or
    Marketing
  • At least seven years of experience designing and managing marketing
    activities
  • At least 4 years of experience with sales and distribution of
    pharmaceutical products
  • Familiarity with key concepts of the total market approach
  • Familiarity with USAID project regulations preferred
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good planning and organization skills
  • Computer literacy including office applications, such as MS Office
    Word, Excel, PowerPoint
