Job Summary:   The Project
Manager – APOLOU is the lead, managing staff and overseeing the implementation
of Save the Children’s components of the USAID funded Apolou project. The PM is
responsible for effective and timely implementation and reporting of SC’s
activities as part of the Apolou project. The Program Manager sits on the
program management unit of the consortium led by Mercy Corps. S/he supervises
the three Save the Children Advisors (SBC, WASH and Adolescents) ensuring
timely and quality project implementation. The jobholder leads reporting on
behalf of Save the Children and is the focal point of contact with Mercy Corps
(the consortium prime) as well as other partners. This position is located in
Moroto.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
·        
The
applicants for the Save the Children Project Manager – APOLOU job placement
must have expertise in project management and of managing programs in an NGO
for at least 8 years.
·        
Knowledge
and experience of having worked in one of the following sectors: Education, Child
Protection and WASH.
·        
Leadership
qualities, motivational skills, mentoring ability; proven experience overseeing
and developing a team and experience of program cycle management, and
experience in a complex and matrix-managed organization
·        
Knowledge
of effective financial and budgetary controls; proven ability to manage budgets
·        
Solid
experience writing comprehensive, high quality narrative reports for donors and
other external constituencies; experience supporting national staff colleagues
to engage in reporting by systematically collecting and compiling correct,
meaningful information/data, etc.
·        
Willingness
to be based in the Karamoja sub-region, with frequent travel to project offices
and field sites within the sub-region and experience living and working in a
complex, high risk (dangerous) environment; demonstrated ability to live/work
and maintain personal wellness and productivity in such an environment
·        
Previous
experience and knowledge of Uganda and Karamojong Sub region.
·        
Knowledge
of Save the Children systems and ways of working
