Job Summary:  The Program Development Officer will play the
invaluable role of creatively crafting and implementing grant proposals to
maximize Samaritan’s Purse’s consideration for funding opportunities, thereby
ensuring continued Christ-like care of those we are seeking to minister
to. 
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a
    consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
  • Develop concept papers and prepare grant proposals to Samaritan’s
    Purse and donor organizations.
  • Ensure that program planning aligns with relevant international and
    internal standards.
  • Monitor and actively search for funding opportunities.
  • Analyze data and background materials in order to provide guidance
    and support to Program Managers and key decision makers.
  • Maintain a monthly grants or project status and reports tracking and
    share with management.
  • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for
    the ministry, its donors and volunteers.
  • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors,
    charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.
  • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or
    spiritual concerns of supervised staff.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the Samaritan’s Purse Program Development Officer
    job placement should hold a Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college
    or university; Master’s degree in related fields (international relations,
    international health, agriculture, economics, etc); three to five years’
    related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education
    and experience.
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly
    preferred.
  • Experience working for humanitarian organizations or International
    NGOs will be an advantage.
  • Maintain a personal relationship with and be a consistent witness
    for Jesus Christ.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral proficiency in
    English.
  • Strong skills in analytical and strategic thinking.
  • Good quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills.
  • Proven experience in proposal writing and M&E (including data
    management).
  • Ability to develop and carry out work plans and solve problems
    independently.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer applications, in particular
    proficiency required in MS Word, MS Excel and Power Point.
