Alive Medical
Services is a community-based clinic located in Namuwongo, Kampala, providing
comprehensive services to children, young people, and families living with and
affected by HIV. The clinic’s growth from its humble beginnings with six
clients a decade ago, to its current work serving over 13,000 clients, is proof
that the need for quality HIV care continues in Uganda. Operating 24 hours a
day, seven days per week, the clinic stands as a beacon of hope for residents
of Namuwongo – and far beyond.
Job Summary:  The Partnership Development and Resource
Mobilization Officer will fill an important role within the organization by
collaborating with senior management to increase and diversify Alive Medical
Services’ (AMS) funding sources and strategic partnerships. The Partnership
Development and Resource Mobilization Officer will work with leadership to
continue developing and implementing a robust and comprehensive resource
mobilization plan. This may include building and strengthening partnerships
with a wide variety of local and international organizations; increasing the
diversity of funding sources, identifying new funding opportunities with
governments, multilateral agencies, local and international public and private
donors and foundations, and developing online fundraisers. They will also
develop and strengthen donor recruitment and stewardship.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Development and implementation of Alive Medical Services resource
    mobilization plan
  • Identification of funding opportunities
  • Application to funding opportunities
  • Coordinate and strengthen Alive Medical Services online fundraising
  • Strengthen donor recruitment and stewardship
  • Donor reporting
  • Build local partnerships and identify new potential partners to
    enhance AMS’ ability to offer a comprehensive range of patient services
    and individual programs
  • Collaboration with Communications Officers
  • Assist with research activities as needed
  • Identify and advertise funding and development opportunities for
    staff and AMS

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Global Health Corps Partnership
    Development and Resource Mobilization Officer career placement should hold
    a Bachelor’s degree*
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in public health, international
    development, non-profit management, or related field
  • At least two years of experience in resource
    mobilization/fundraising, including proposal development, grant writing,
    or organizing online fundraisers*
  • Experience in engaging with a range of donors, including
    governments, multilateral agencies, and/or local and international public
    and private donors and foundations*
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills*
  • A good understanding of the HIV/AIDS funding and donor landscape
  • Experience managing relationships with donors and/or partners in the
    service of an organizational mission
  • Experience writing reports, preferably grant reports
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
  • The candidate should be flexible, reliable, and committed to Alive
    Medical Services’ vision and mission
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
  • Strong initiative and the ability to think creatively
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

In addition to the
intensive leadership development and professional growth that the fellowship
offers, the Global Health Corps fellowship includes the following benefits. GHC
arranges several logistical details on fellows’ behalf with the expectation
that fellows will take ownership of their overall experience. Read on below to
