Job Summary:  The Water technician will be responsible for
overall coordination and Supervision of the Napak Living Water Project (NLWP)
within the program’s areas of operation; will be both technical and
programmatic. He/she will lead, manage and train technicians in implementing
existing activities while also providing monitoring and evaluation tools to
assess progress against agreed objectives. The Water technician will also
coordinate in identification of areas and opportunities for development of new
Water projects. The incumbent will be responsible for regular field reporting
to the Project Manager (PM) – NLWP and must ensure effective coordination of
field activities with the relevant stakeholders. He/she will be based at the
KCWASH field operational area. The Water Technician will report directly to the
Project Manager, NLWP
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide Professional representation of SP at meetings with
    Government, community members and civil society partners.
  • Work collaboratively with other NLWP staff in the implementation of
    the project’ activities.
  • Test and recommend places to construct the various water facilities     
  • Support and ensure that the technicians and participants adhere to
    the method and procedures of constructing water Facilities
  • Coordinate information between construction, installation, and
    public health teams   
  • Supervise contractors of the project           
  • Manage technicians and masons and organize participant involvement           
  • Monitor water facilities performance         
  • Keep record of construction of water facilities       
  • Report to the Program Manager on all activities and Progress.  
  • Train pump technicians       
  • Participant in the rehabilitations and Repairs of the Water         
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Program Manager 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the Samaritan’s Purse Water Technician job
    placement should hold a Higher or Ordinary diploma in civil engineering,
    water engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of four years of related working experience
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of borehole construction and
    rehabilitation and good experience in water facilities for semi-arid areas
    like Karamoja.
  • Fluent in English and Ngakaramajong.
  • Dynamic, personable and a team player
