Uganda Coffee
Development Authority was established as a public Authority, and its mandate is
to promote and oversee the coffee industry by supporting research, promoting
production, controlling coffee quality, and improving the marketing of coffee
in order to optimize foreign exchange earnings for the country and payments to
the farmers.
Job Summary:  The Laboratory Technician will provide support
in all laboratory activities as need arises and ensure that the laboratory is
in order.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Prepare laboratory equipment for grading, cupping, sensory tasting
    and analysis;
  • Roasting and grinding of coffees as per set standards;
  • Keep proper custody of equipment, chemicals and reagents in line
    with the Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Carry out analysis of coffee samples, soil samples and other
    coffee-related products
  • Prepare requisitions for laboratory materials, chemicals and
    equipment in line with established guidelines;
  • Ensure that the laboratory is safe and everything therein;
  • Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor of Science in Laboratory
    Science Management or related field from a recognized university
  • At least three years of experience;
  • Certificate in Basic Quality Control or Q and R grading will be an
    added advantage.
