• Draft capital markets laws, and provide technical support for their
  approval and publication.
• Undertake legal research to support the review and development of
  capital markets laws.
• Provide legal advice, and prepare legal briefs and opinions;
• Undertake responsibilities of the Secretary to the Legal &
  Regulatory Affairs Committee of the Board;
• Undertake and coordinate enforcement actions in conjunction with
  relevant law enforcement organs of Government;
• Provide technical support and represent the Authority with regards
  to Anti Money Laundering/Counter Terrorist Financing activities and
  responsibilities
• Represent the Authority in courts of law and other dispute
  resolution fora where necessary;
• Perform any other related duties that may be assigned from time to
  time

• The applicant must hold an honors Bachelor’s degree in Law from a
  recognized institution/ University, a post-graduate diploma in legal
  practice and enrolment as an advocate in Uganda is required. A relevant
  Masters degree will be an added advantage.
• A minimum of five years of relevant post-qualification work
  experience from a reputable organization, preferably in a regulatory or
  financial services sector.
• Previous experience in developing, implementing and enforcing
  securities legal and regulatory framework, legislative drafting,
  compliance and company secretarial practice will be an added advantage.
• Ability to handle a diverse workload and multiple simultaneous
  activities under minimum supervision;
• Self-motivated and results driven with ability to deliver
  effectively under pressure;
• Ability to work within and with teams
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Strong ability to persuade all levels of management and external
  stakeholders;
• Strong communication and presentation skills;
• Ability to interpret legislation and policy;
• Good legal drafting skills
