is owned by the Madhavani Group and it is extracted from cane grown on lush
plantations on the shores of Lake Victoria. The sweet, sparkling crystals with
their distinctive taste and flavour, and rich golden colour, have sweetened
dishes all over Uganda since the 1930s.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Managing the Outgrowers Section Harvesting plan linked to Age,
    keeping the correct mix of Aided/Unaided/Adhoc cane allocations from each
    Zone. This will be linked to the Mill Crush Plan.
  • Ensuring a smooth flow of Harvesting Permits to Growers in each Zone
    so as to maintain a smooth flow of cane to the Mill.
  • Managing the Field Operations Team consisting of Superintendents,
    Supervisors, Field Assistants, Office Clerks, and Cane Monitors to ensure
    all activities are carried out and the Team have the required Resources.
  • Randomly visiting Outgrowers fields during harvesting and ensure
    supply of quality cane free from extraneous matter like tops, trash, soil,
    roots.
  • Liaising with the Banks on issues regarding farmer’s payments and
    loans.
  • Strong interaction and close working relationship with the Farmers
    Association.
  • Ensuring the General Register of all Outgrowers is accurately
    maintained and the Field inventory is regularly updated.
  • Ensuring Agricultural Management System is used correctly by Team
    members

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • Applicants should be holders of Degree in Agriculture or Finance or
    Administration.
  • Five years of experience in either Agriculture, Finance, Banking
    Administration dealing with a large number of clients and staff. Incumbent
    will be mentored over 12 months.
  • Computer Systems: Experience in SAP or Sage, Tranquility type
    packages will be an advantage.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional Communication Skills are needed to
    deal with a large staff contingent and a big Outgrowers Community.
  • Age: 35 years and
    above
