Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Coordinating the implementation of an environmental compliance
    schedule on site , ensuring that pre, during and post environment
    monitoring steps are defined through appropriate procedures and that
    activities are implemented in line with the ESMPs (Environment, Social
    management Plans)
  • Promoting site awareness on Compliance, Participating in the site
    emergency response plan implementation particularly Oil Spill Contingency
    planning
  • Actively contributing to the visibility of ongoing environmental and
    biodiversity compliance activities at site and throughout the Company
  • Ensuring collection of site data required for all reporting purposes
  • Keeping up to date with the communities’ perception of the Company’s
    environment performance and anticipate risks and identifying noncompliance
    and negative impacts to be communicated to management
  • Ensuring that ESMPs requirements are incorporated at site level and
    effectively managed including by contractors
  • Following up on environment incidents, performing site inspections,
    audits and support closure of finding.
  • Ensuring the appropriate implementation and documentation of
    compliance schedule, implementing work programs at site level for
    Companywide ISO14001 Certification.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicants for the TOTAL Environment Compliance Supervisor job
    opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering
    or related discipline
  • At least seven (7) years’ experience in managing environmental
    Compliance in an operational environment in the Oil & Gas industry
  • In-depth understanding of the Uganda Environmental legislation
  • Clear understanding of ISO14001
  • Good understanding and experience in Environment and Social
    Management plan development and implementation
  • Clear Understanding of International best practices/standards e.g.
    International Finance Corporation (IFC), International Petroleum Industry
    Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA)
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain good relations with a wide
    range of stakeholders including local communities, industry, NGOs and
    other international organizations
  • Excellent negotiation and Conflict Management skills.
  • Good report writing and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office
