are a subsidiary of the Nation Media Group, which is East & Central
Africa’s largest multi-media group.
Job Summary:  The News Reporter & Anchor will interpret
and communicate news and public affairs in the most in-depth and insightful
manner. Link the audience with newsmakers so as to gain and increase
credibility of the station and widen its viewership base.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Takes instructions and briefs from the News Producer on stories to
    be covered
  • Ensures that the equipment i.e. camera and video tapes are readily
    available in working order
  • Assesses the situation on location to determine the required
    pictures and sound bites and captures the images or directs a camera
    person to do so.
  • Analyses and broadcasts news received from various sources
  • Present news on air in an eloquent, clear and concise manner
  • Telecasting live bulletins and giving interviews from remote
    locations
  • Previews the material, takes time codes, writes a script to go with
    the pictures and gets the scripts edited.
  • Investigate breaking news developments, such as unique phenomena,
    disasters, crimes, or stories of human interest.
  • Research and analyze background information related to stories to
    provide complete and accurate information.
  • Gather incisive and in-depth information through research,
    interviews and crucial news sources or leads
  • Research and report on specialized fields such as medicine, science
    and technology, politics, foreign affairs, sports, arts, consumer affairs,
    business, religion, crime or education.
  • Develop ideas or material for features or commentaries by analyzing
    and interpreting news, current issues, or personal experiences.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The News Reporter & Anchor must hold a Basic University Degree
  • Diploma in Journalism/Mass Communication
  • One to three years of related working experience
  • Proficiency and fluency in the English language with a
    well-controlled voice
  • Possess a superb voice intonation, diction and articulate vocals
  • Ability to engage, educate and entertain an audience
  • Ability to think aurally without necessarily reading scripts
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of current affairs
  • Experience working in a real time news environment
  • Ability to work odd hours in a fast paced environment
  • Maintain a presence for your personal brand and for your
    investigations on social media
