the National Carrier of the Republic of Uganda based at Entebbe International
Airport. It is headquartered in Entebbe, Wakiso District, Uganda, and operates
from its hub in Entebbe International Airport. 
Job Summary:    The
IT Systems Controller plays a key role in developing and supporting airline
applications for the different departments. He /She undertakes different roles,
as and when required by department heads and business managers in solving IT
related problems and implementing IT solutions required for the successful
management and operation of the airline. Activities under this role may involve
requirements specification, software design, evaluation, development, testing,
project management, quality assurance, training and support.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Work with all departments to facilitate IT software and hardware
    selection, documenting business objectives, functional specifications,
    requirements, data models and technical architecture to meet business
    needs
  • Prepare functional and technical specifications for external
    suppliers or for in-house development.
  • Work with the solutions architects to design right technical
    architecture to meet business requirements.
  • Ensure error-free codes within agreed time-scales, using the tools,
    and techniques specified by the Project Managers. Ensure proper
    documentation of the software for ease of quality assurance, testing,
    operation and support.
  • Ensure company networks and software solutions are working as
    desired.
  • Oversee the management of the airline’s website and ensure security
    of interfaces accordingly
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of reported incidents in operational
    systems and ensure right changes to code, test and promote following the
    standard change management process.
  • Design and prepare test plan strategies and oversee test scripts to
    validate all new software development and enhancements. Participate and be
    responsible for the test, training and implementation phases of projects.
  • Ensure right quality documentation for ease of quality assurance,
    testing, operation and support.
  • Ensure that software is peer reviewed and unit tested and help
    ensure that all functional and non-functional requirements are met.
  • Manage the delivery of sub-projects or small systems and solutions,
    within the established procedures, quality standards and methods to
    achieve the targets of quality, cost, benefits and time-scales.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and internal teams involved in the
    project.
  • Plan to future proof application design/ technology and for
    increased usage to support the expansion.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Uganda Airlines IT Systems Controller job
    placement must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in
    Engineering/Computer Science or related field.
  • Three years of job-related experience required.
  • Experience in managing networks, website design, and or maintenance
    or software design.
  • Domain knowledge of airline operations, business processes,
    e-commerce is an advantage.
  • Experience in Business Analysis/Requirements Gathering/Test Design/
    Solution Design.
