Kyambogo University
is the second largest Public University in Uganda. Since its formation in 2003,
the University has established itself as one of the leading Universities in
Uganda offering a number of academic programmes in line with vocational
education, teacher training, hands-on engineering, special needs training,
social sciences, pure and applied sciences, entrepreneurship and management
that meet the Market remands and development needs of the Country. The
Strategic Focus Areas of the University include: Teaching Learning; Research,
Innovation and Knowledge Generation; Physical Infrastructure, Facilities and
ICT Development; Institutional Development and Strategic Marketing.
Job Summary:  The University Librarian will develop,
control, manage and coordinate all Libran/ and information systems and services
of the University in support of teaching, learning and research.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a PhD in Library and information Science
    from a recognized University/Institution.
  • Master’s Degree in Library and information Science or Information
    Science from a recognized University/institution; and
  • Bachelors Degree in Library and information Science, information
    Studies, information Technology, Information Systems or in Humanities or
    Science from a recognized University/institution,
  • At least seven (7) years‘ experience demonstrating increasing levels
    of responsibilities. professional experience and leadership in academic
    library of a reputable institution; five (5) of which should have been
    served at the level of Senior Librarian and above.
  • PUBLICATIONS: Must have five (5) Scholarly publications from the
    time of last appointment to Senior Librarian position.
  • Age Limit: between
    40 and 55 years old at the time of application.

    copies of relevant pages of the passport indicating the applicant’s date
    of birth.
  • Names and addresses of three referees
    who should be advised to send reference letters direct to the Director
    Human Resources under confidential cover.
