exporters in Uganda.
Job Summary:   The Quality Manager primarily manages and
ensures that all the coffee we purchase, store, process and export is always
managed and handled to the highest possible standards. This role, with the
support of the Quality department, is also responsible for guiding purchasing
decisions by ensuring highly accurate and timely quality analysis is carried
out on all coffee samples prior to purchase and also during the entire
production cycle.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for leading and managing the Quality Team based at the
    Head Office in Namanve and at various locations across Uganda.
  • Required to oversee all coffee sampling processes to ensure that
    samples are taken correctly and in line with required procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring all required quality documentation is
    completed to a high level of accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Manage the analysis of all coffee samples providing daily reports to
    Management and Suppliers on points such as moisture content and ensuring
    that the process followed is in line with testing procedures and
    regulations.
  • Work closely with the Production teams to ensure that quality
    inspections are carried out regularly and throughout all stages of the
    production and storage processes.
  • Responsible for making recommendations on process improvements that
    will ensure the highest level of quality is maintained for all coffee that
    passes through our operation.
  • Responsible for ensuring all export ready coffee is fully compliant
    with company and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a University degree level education in Food
    Science or any other relevant discipline.
  • Substantial experience in a similar role within a commodities
    environment.
  • Good awareness of compliance best practices, regulation and solid
    experience in managing compliance paper trails ensuring that key documents
    are completed to the relevant standard
  • Expert knowledge of sensory science in general and coffee sensory in
    particular.
  • Trained as professional coffee cupper (Licensed Q-Grader) with
    strong ability to develop and train team members.
  • Excellent understanding of quality assurance principles, major food
    safety requirements and quality systems including: ISO, HACCPS, Good
    Manufacturing Practices etc.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in
    writing.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and able to
    handle multiple priorities at the same time.
  • Good computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office and
    able to master other software.
  • Ability to perform accurate calculations and analysis
  • Comprehensive understanding of key business processes within quality
    and production
  • Ability to work well under pressure with a proactive
    can-do-attitude.
