body in Uganda, established by the Accountants Act. The Institute also has a

- Regulate and maintain the Standard of Accountancy in Uganda.
- Prescribe and regulate the conduct of accountants and practising
accountants in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Head of Communications is responsible for
managing the Institute’s Communications function in line with its brand.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the Institute’s communications function.
- Manages print and electronic publications.
- Develops, implements and monitors the Institute’s communications
plan. - Prepares, implements and monitors plans and budgets.
- Implements appropriate risk management in the communications
function. - Builds and manages relationships with the Institute’s stakeholders
and ensures that the highest levels of customer satisfaction are met. - Maintains and enhances the Institute’s image and reputation.
- Works closely with other staff to promote the Institute’s brand.
- Builds media relationships and works with targeted media.
- Manages media-related events.
- Organises and speaks at press conferences, interviews and talk shows.
- Maintains and updates information on the Institute’s website and
social media platforms. - Prepares and reviews speeches, press releases, advertisements,
presentations and articles. - Supervises line staff.
- Carries out any other duties as assigned by the CEO/Secretary.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the ICPAU Head of Communications must hold a
Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Media or
other relevant field. - Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field is an added
advantage. - A minimum of five years of experience working in public relations
and/or corporate communications. - Proven record of press relationships.
- Previous experience providing communications support to senior
executives. - Experience in drafting and editing press releases, bylines,
articles, newsletters, speeches, and other marketing materials. - A passion for influential communications complemented by outstanding
writing and interpersonal skills. - Ability to interpret complex concepts and translate them into
engaging campaigns. - A proactive professional experienced in communicating across varied
platforms and technologies, including traditional media, digital, social
and direct channels. - Able to demonstrate the efficacy of public relations and social
media campaigns. - Able to work collaboratively on a team.
- Have a proven track record in creating and executing a wide range of
communications initiatives. - Ability to think creatively in a changing media environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to change.
