Job Summary:  The Assistant Manager Tax will be tasked with
the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual taxation
returns in accordance with the VAT and Income Tax Act. The incumbent will be
responsible for the payment of resultant taxation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual taxation
    returns in accordance with the VAT and Income Tax Act.
  • Making all tax payments when due. (VAT, WHT,PAYE, Corporate Tax)
  • Monitoring business unit compliance with the VAT and Income Tax Act.
  • Provide first line of taxation support to the business units.
  • Custodian of the company’s permanent tax file.
  • Ensuring that all tax records and correspondence are appropriately
    maintained and filed.
  • Implementing and monitoring compliance with the Group’s Uniform Tax
    procedures.
  • Ensure effective balance sheet substantiation for all tax balance
    sheet accounts.
  • Identification and reporting of taxation risks within SBUL.
  • Ensuring tax compliance within SBUL.
  • Engage all stakeholders and ensure their requirements are met. (URA,
    Internal Audit, business units and external Audit

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the Stanbic Bank Assistant Manager Tax job must
    hold a B.Com (Accounting/Finance).
  • ACCA or CIMA or CPA (U).
  • Two to four years of banking experience
  • Understanding of IFRS
  • Good understanding of Ugandan Taxation regulations
  • Good computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word).
  • Working knowledge of accounting software. (Knowledge of SAP and
    Finacle will be an advantage
  • Post graduate qualification in a relevant field is an added
    advantage
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate data for acceptability and
    correctness
  • Analytical mind with strong orientation to financial analysis.
  • Ability and experience in communicating with all levels of
    management regarding management information needs.
  • Good interpersonal skills required in liaising with people at
    different levels within the bank.
  • Dynamic self-starter with a personal ambition to succeed.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in teams
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
