Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Implementation of
qualitative MHPSS activities
  • Assess needs of mental health patients and establish therapeutic
    plan accordingly.
  • Implement follow up for individuals with mental conditions or
    psychological distress through therapeutic individual, and group and
    family sessions
  • To contribute to the identification and assessment of Person with
    Specific Needs and individuals at risk of being victims of violence
  • To contribute to the development of a referral network, especially
    regarding the MHPSS-related cases. 
  • To respect logistics and administrative HI procedures
  • To participate to the identification of barriers to equal access to
    services, especially MHPSS ones
    .
Reporting
  • To maintain complete documentation for each activity following the
    recommendations and template of the MHPSS supervisor
  • To provide daily reporting on the activities implemented to the line
    manager using the tool and reporting system provided by the line manager
  • To participate to the MHPSS supervisor activity reports as required
  • To participate in the development of the technical reports and
    contribute to providing specific information when required
  • To ensure information sharing to and from internal coordination for
    MHPSS sector
  • To provide MHPSS technical inputs and collaborate with surveys,
    assessments and monitoring reports conducted by the HI project manager and
    MEAL department
Coordination and Representation
  • To represent HI in MHPSS technical domain with any relevant
    stakeholders under the supervision of his/her manager at field level
  • To maintain a productive and positive relationship with HI partners
    in the field
  • To maintain a good and productive coordination and communication
    with support services
Technical support
and capacity building of HI staff
  • To ensure field visits on outreach intervention areas to give input
    related to MHPSS matter
  • To ensure regular feedback to the line manager regarding the MHPSS
    challenges faced by the MHPSS team
Demonstration of an
ethics, safe, secure and professional practices
  • To show professional ethics, respect and promote HI mandate and
    humanitarian principles at all times
  • To respect the HI protection of children policy, the protection of
    beneficiaries from sexual exploitation and abuse policy, the anti-fraud
    bribery and corruption policy and report to your line manager any
    non-respect of HI’s policies amongst the teams or partners.
  • To report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or
    to others
  • To observe at all times strict commitment to HI Security &
    Safety regulations as per procedures in place at mission level
  • To participate in security meetings upon the line manager request
    and report relevant information to the appropriate persons

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidates for the Handicap International (HI)
    Psychologist jobs must possess a clinical psychologist  degree with experience
  • Professional experience in clinical psychological accompaniment of
    vulnerable persons and/or refugees
  • Experience in MHPSS support groups is an asset
  • Professional experience within an NGO, preferably in the field of
    vulnerability and/or disability and/or outreach community-based approach
  • Familiar with MS Office (Word, Excel) and internet
  • Strong sense of neutrality and confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • Open and interested in disability and vulnerability issues
  • High diplomacy, cultural sensitivity and security awareness
  • Ability to work under high pressure and without constant supervision
  • Languages: Spoken
    and written English. Proficiency local languages is an asset (Arua)
