Job Summary:  The Sub Area Manager works in the Refugee
program area and is responsible for managing the South Sudan Humanitarian
response. S/he is responsible for providing strategic direction and management
of the emergency programmes in collaboration with senior management. In
addition, s/he is responsible for identifying needs and resources and
elaborating programme recommendations for the emergency response in the
districts in line with the national and district humanitarian response
priorities and will ensure that all relevant Save the Children policies and
procedures with respect to child safeguarding, safety and security, code of
conduct, equal opportunities and other relevant policies are adhered to. The
job holder takes overall responsibility for leadership and programme
management, including planning, starting up implementation, capacity
development, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, learning and reporting

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicants for the Save the Children Sub Area Manager job
    placement must hold a bachelor’s degree in development studies, social
    science or related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of working experience in humanitarian
    response programmes.
  • Knowledge of Security management in insecure environments
  • Experience of working with local partners and District Local
    Government and ability to speak local language and directly interact with
    target group will be an added advantage
  • Demonstrable financial, planning and budget management skills a
    MUST.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of international and local policies and
    frameworks relating to their areas of operation.
  • Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as
    necessary.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills i.e
    influencing, negotiation and coaching
  • Excellent planning, coordination and reporting skills, with the
    ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse
    tasks and responsibilities
