food security and agricultural productivity in over 100 developing countries
through the development and transfer of effective and environmentally sound
crop nutrient technology and agribusiness expertise. IFDC enables smallholder
farmers in developing countries to increase agricultural productivity, generate
economic growth and practice environmental stewardship by enhancing their
ability to manage mineral and organic fertilizers responsibly and participate
profitability in input and output markets.
Job Summary:  The Finance and Administration Officer will
provide finance and administration and logistical support to the team. This
position will be spilt into two projects with 75% of the time on the PNSP and
25% on the REACH project.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure that all project financial data are kept up to date and that
    interested parties get accurate and timely feedback/reports
  • Maintains files, including filing of general ledger journal
    vouchers, accounts payable documentation and partner files
  • Monitor use of partner funds and ensure that costs are reasonable,
    allowable and allocable
  • Assist in project logistics and approvals in collaboration with
    Finance Manager
  • Maintain regular contact with other departments to obtain and convey
    information and or to correct transactions
  • Provide early warning to management on financial and budgetary
    issues where variation authorization may be required
  • Ensure that all partner financial reports are fully supported and
    are submitted to the Finance Manager on a monthly basis
  • Provide accurate coding at transaction level to ensure that
    expenditure monitoring is accurate and data is captured in the right cost
    and sub cost centers
  • Ensure consistent application of donor and IFDC financial policies
    and procedures
  • Present project accounts for audit as when necessary
  • Carryout procurement analysis and ensure completeness of procurement
    packages
  • Review activity budgets for correctness and procurement
    implications.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicants for the International Fertilizer Development Center
    (IFDC) job placement should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in a
    finance and accounting or relevant field, a Certificate in a in a
    profession course like ACCA, CPA, will be an added advantage
  • A minimum of two years working experience in a similar position with
    an international organization
  • Highly motivated, energetic, independent self-starter with strong
    communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Proficiency in MS office (Word/Excel)
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in accounting software packages
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, time management and
    organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, deliver quality results and meet
    deadlines
  • Honesty and integrity
  • Ability to work with people from different nationalities and
    backgrounds
  • Team player, flexible and adaptable to different work conditions
